A Day In My Life (02-12-07) ________________________
As I hurriedly came out of my house on my way to church for the evening service little did I know it was a journey of destiny. After waiting for the bus for a quarter of an hour I was getting impatient as I was already late. Suddenly, I heard a voice behind me saying, ---- church? Hearing the word church? I quickly turned around and said yes. (Normally, I won't say yes to a stranger). By now it was too late to decline the offer then he point to his car and lead the way.
Upon getting into the car, I realised the face was not a familiar one at all though, calm and sweet. Then he introduced himself and asked of my name which I responded. He went on to explain how this way is not is normal route. He was coming from a friend's and was also in a hurry to church. From one topic to another we conversed
Then a drama unfolded!!! He stopped at a petrol station and left the car. Few minutes later, he returned and started looking for something. I asked what he was looking for, he said his wallet. That he needed some money. So, I joined him in the search but after a fruitless effort I ask if I could give him some money. He stopped and looked at me as if he was shocked. Then he declined the offer.
After a short pulse, he asked if I don't mind standing up for him to search the chair I was sitting on. Sure, I replied, however to my greatest surprise and embarrassment there laid the gentleman's wallet. (Ouch)! But he quickly laughed it off. He got some money from the cash machine and we set off.
That is not lady-like, why didn't you check the seat before you sat down? Were samples of questions running through my mind?
As I try to save face and make my disappearance into the church, he asked me how I was getting back home. If he could give me a lift (remember my route is off-route for him). Then I replied...... To be continued? |
